Born in Shanghai and raised in Los Angeles by overworked parents who don’t speak English, Jane was a latchkey kid who spent way too much time absorbing television she wasn’t allowed to watch. Needless to say, she was intrigued by the power of media at a young age.
Drawn to topics of empathy, connection, and representation on(+off!)-screen, Jane has a passion for showcasing people and narratives that are too often overlooked. Her poetic style and visual language invite the viewer in to peer through a different lens, while cinematically unfolding stories through intimate emotions and evocative movement.
Her work has been showcased on CBS, SHOTS NEW DIRECTORS TO WATCH, Buzzfeed, Nowness, Booooooom, Vimeo Staff Picks, and has received 5 Clio Sports awards for her Chevrolet Goalkeepers Campaign. IN 2019, she was awarded the AICP+DGA’s Commercial Directors Diversity Program (CDDP) fellowship, was featured in SHOOT New Directors Showcase, and won a 1.4 Award for her US Paralympics spot featuring Paralympian Colleen Young. AND Most recently, SHE WAS NOMINATED AS A YOUNG GUNS 18 FINALIST.
Jane’s curiosity and deep fascination with human psychology push her towards socially conscious work, because she believes impactful films can change the world.
